New Hampshire 48 4,000 Footers List
The New Hampshire 48 4,000 Footer List is one of the most popular lists to complete! It consists of 48 mountains over 4,000 feet tall with more than 200 feet of prominence, allowing you to conquer some of the tallest mountains in the state. Some mountains have breathtaking views while others have no views (and some make you hike 18 miles to a summit with. no views ha!).
The list was originally created in 1931 with only 36 mountains, and the list as we know it today with 48 mountains was published until 1980, with Bondcliff being the last mountain added.
One of the fun things about the 48 4,000 Footer List is you can complete it in a variety of ways. The most popular is completing it over time in no particular season, which is what I did! You can also complete them only in the winter or as “The Grid” which consists of hiking all the 4,000 footers in every month (you do not have to do this within one year!). You can get a different patch for each accomplishment which is fun!
Once you complete the list, you can head over to the AMC Four Thousand Footer Club to learn how to submit your application!
