The Land of Blue Lakes and Tall Mountains
Have you ever come across a picture of a bright blue lake surrounded by beautiful mountains? The lake is most likely in Western Canada. Banff and Jasper National Park are more well known than most think. Many people see pictures of the beautiful landscapes these parks offer and don’t know the park names. After I saw one picture of Peyto Lake in Banff (pictured above), I knew this was a place I had to explore!
I didn’t research Banff and Jasper National Park as much as Iceland, but I did put in a few months of researching to find the best spots. It’s not hard, though, because everything is breathtaking! It also helps that there is one main road from Banff to Jasper and a lot of what you want to see is off this road.
Alex and I traveled to Alberta for a week in August 2018. Little did we know, this is prime time for forest fires, so there was smoke covering most of this area for the weeks prior to our trip. We were bummed. Why go to this beautiful place and not be able to experience its full beauty? We did a quick prayer to Mother Nature asking to clear some smoke for our trip and hopped on a plane. It was super smoky when we arrived, but we did have a few clear days. We made the most of our time here and explored some amazing places! We eventually will go back to experience the landscapes without smoke.
This is a snapshot of our explorations in this beautiful place. If you have any questions or recommendations for our next trip, please feel free to comment on any of the blog posts or message me!
